Our awards applications have closed and the awards panels are all busy getting ready to read and make decisions to narrow these down to the final names! We have had many more applications this time and we are delighted with this response. A big thank you goes to all our applicants – we appreciate the time and care you have put into your applications.
At the end of this week [of writing this] it will be September. My whanau will meet to celebrate a significant birthday of one member. Our ‘birthdays’ in this month are many and I suspect many other families may also have this in this first month of spring!
The weather out there has been interesting! That is the nicest way to consider the level of rain we have had in some parts of the country, and we welcome the change of season!
The trustees have been busy helping our three new trustees understand the work we undertake. And the longer serving members are delighted to have them on board; we look forward to meeting them face-to-face in early November for a weekend of a lot of talking and much laughter.
We have also started to see/hear the many statements to encourage us to vote. Since NZ women were given the right to vote and that very first election when we did so, overwhelmingly more women have voted in each and every election. So, everyone, do keep up this fine tradition! Vote because our small country, so far away from everywhere else, led the world so long ago in this and show that today we continue to lead the world showing that all women are important to the long-term well-being not only of our country but also to the well-being of our planet.
Ngā mihi nui,
